CHICAGO — A cab driver was stabbed early Friday during a robbery in West Rogers Park, police said.
At 2:30 a.m., the 32-year-old driver picked up a passenger in the 6700 block of North California Avenue, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
In attempting to rob the driver, the passenger stabbed the cabbie in his right arm and left leg before leaving without taking anything, Sedevic said.
The driver was taken to St. Francis where his condition had stabilized, Sedevic said.
No one is in custody, and police are investigating.
ABC7 reported that after the stabbing, the robber jumped into a car that was following the taxi.
A friend of the driver told ABC7, "They put that knife on his neck. He was just trying to defend himself."
