ROGERS PARK — Two world-class wheel gymnasts based in Rogers Park are raising money to pay for a trip to the World Championships in Italy.

High schoolers Prado Keme and Elly Craig have qualified for the competition. The pair practices wheel gymnastics — a sport in which athletes vault, spin and run inside a stainless steel wheel wrapped in rubber — at Willye B. White field house.

The championship takes place June 8-14 in Lignano, Italy. The gymnasts hope to raise $3,000 to cover travel expenses.

The White Park advisory council is hosting two events to allow residents to see the gymnasts practice 4-6 p.m. March 14 and 2-4 p.m. March 15 at the field house.
