ANDERSONVILLE — Local businesses will receive their Andersonville Honors Awards in the form of a short play this year.

That's because the local awards will be presented at a one-time-only, neighborhood-focused version of "Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind," a long-running show put on by the neighborhood's beloved experimental theater group The Neo Futurists.

Tickets for the show go on sale March 6.

Known for putting on 30 eclectic plays in one hour, the Neo-Futurists show will be the centerpiece of this year's Andersonville Honors Awards gala, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 9 at the Neo-Futurists' theater, 5153 N. Ashland Ave. Proceeds will support Andersonville Development Corporation.

In addition to the neighborhood-driven show, there will be locally-sourced food and drinks and a silent auction at the gala.

This is the fourth year of the Andersonville Honors Awards, which were designed to highlight the best local businesses and organizations in Andersonville.

There's still time to nominate your favorite Andersonville businesses for an award. Nominations are open until March 5. The next day, community members can make their final vote on the top five businesses.
