CHICAGO — A man was critically wounded in a shooting early Sunday in Auburn Gresham, police said.

At 5 a.m., a 57-year-old man was shot in his mouth near 79th Street and Ashland Avenue, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in critical condition, Sedevic said.

Police believe the man was shot during a robbery.
