CHINATOWN — The Pui Tak Center and Pui Tak Christian School are merging their summertime learning and activity programs.

Open to students entering preschool (3 years old) through 8th grade, the seven-week "Jump Start" program will include academics, field trips, gym time, games, Bible activities and a team-building indoor carnival.

The program runs weekdays from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 29-Aug. 14 at the Pui Tak Center on the second floor of 2216 S. Wentworth Ave., the architecturally stunning former On Leong Merchant Association Building.

Before- and after-school care can be arranged for an additional cost of $5 for early drop-off at 8:30 a.m. and $10 for late pick-up until 5:30 p.m. Free lunches are provided.

Child Care Assistance (CCAP) will be accepted for those who qualify.

Organizers say kids each day of the program will be filled with academic challenges, Christian-based "arts and movement" and physical education classes. It's all designed to help students prepare for their next year in school.

Pui Tak Christian School and the affiliated Pui Tak Center have long offered education and community events for immigrants, kids, adults and families.

The Jump Start program costs $900 for the entire seven weeks, $550 for the first four weeks or $450 for the first three weeks. Organizers are offering a $50 discount for those who register before April 1.
