COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A parolee has been charged with punching a postal worker and stealing her phone in North Lawndale, prosecutors said Wednesday.

Kelvin Wilson, 24, who's currently on parole for an illegal gun conviction, threatened to shoot the female mail carrier, court records show.

Wilson approached the woman about 3:15 p.m. on Jan. 17 as she walked down the 3200 block of West Douglas Boulevard, Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto said in court Wednesday.

He grabbed the victim, demanded cash and a phone, and punched her several times, according to court records. Wilson then patted the woman down and took her cell phone before running off, prosecutors said.

Officers arrested Wilson on Tuesday near his home in the 1200 block of South Troy Street after a warrant was issued, according to police.

Wilson was charged with aggravated robbery using a weapon.

Previously, Wilson was convicted in January 2013 of unlawful use of a weapon and sentenced to six years in jail. He was paroled in July 2013, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Cook County Judge Laura Sullivan on Wednesday held Wilson in lieu of $200,000 bail.
