We're launching a new blog called The Block Club, where we get a little more conversational and sassy. We hope you like it.

Election Day in newsrooms is like a holiday. There's sometimes free pizza, there's excessive caffeine and everyone works late, most of the time enthusiastically.

As we wait for election results to roll in tonight, this is what we've been reading:

The Disappeared: Chicago Police Detain Americans at Abuse-Laden 'Black Site': The Guardian's exclusive story on alleged abuse within the CPD is truly chilling. But the Sun-Times questions some of the Guardian's reporting.

Nobody’s Favorite Favorite: We love when national media outlets let people who actually know/live in Chicago write about it. The talented Megan Stielstra discusses why Chicagoans are "resigned" to Mayor Rahm Emanuel's re-election even if they don't support him, and how much has changed since the 2011 mayoral campaign.

The Humbling of Rahm: Another national op-ed piece by a local writer. Carol Felsenthal wonders is a runoff would "humble" Mayor Emanuel — who has a lot more money and name recognition than his competitors.

What Emanuel Needs to Avoid a Runoff: We're obviously very into this runoff story.

You Can Rent Out a Private CTA Train for $1,800: The only downfall is the no booze rule.
