COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A 58-year-old woman was arrested at Midway International Airport this weekend after she tried to bring a gun through security, prosecutors said.

Faith DuBois told police she uses the gun to shoot snakes on her Kentucky farm, and forgot it was in her bag, Assistant State's Attorney Erin Antonietti said during a bond hearing.

DuBois, who lives in southwest suburban Lemont, does not have a conceal and carry permit, prosecutors said.

Police arrested DuBois about 9:30 a.m. Sunday after TSA agents spotted a 9mm gun and seven live rounds in her carry-on bag, according to a police report. DuBois had sent the bag through an X-ray machine, and authorities found the weapon stuffed in a white gym sock, the report said.

DuBois told officers she had tossed the gun in her bag Friday while she was at her family's farm in Kentucky and forgot it was there, police said.

DuBois was charged with one felony count of trying to board a plane with a weapon.

On Monday, Cook County Judge Maria Kuriakos Ciesil ordered her held in lieu of $10,000 bail.
