CHICAGO — Actor Vince Vaughn has accepted the invitation to jump into Lake Michigan as part of the Special Olympics' Polar Plunge fundraiser, the organization announced on Facebook.

Vaughn, whose film "Unfinished Business" is set to release on March 6,  "will serve as a VIP, Very Important Plunger at this year's Chicago Polar Plunge," officials said.

On March 1, the actor and thousands of others will go "Vinny Dippin'" and jump into the freezing cold water at North Avenue Beach to raise money for Special Olympics Chicago.

"I'm so excited to help cheer on the amazing athletes of Special Olympics," Vaughn said in a statement. "Their courage and dedication inspired me to take the polar plunge into the freezing waters of Chicago."

Last year, after an exchange of tweets "The Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon accepted Mayor Rahm Emanuel's challenge to take any icy dip as part of a Polar Plunge fundraiser.

Fallon, Emanuel and 3,200 people took the plunge bringing in more than $1 million for Special Olympics Chicago, organizers said.

The event is the largest fundraiser of Special Olympics Chicago, which provides activities and events to nearly 5,000 athletes throughout the year, officials said.
