LAKEVIEW — Hip hop group Doomtree will be in Chicago Friday for a new release, but it's tastier than their usual fare.
The Minneapolis artists teamed up with their hometown Surly Brewing Company to create an English-style bitter brew, the aptly named Surly Doomtree.
The beer will have its Chicago debut Friday at Sheffield's Beer & Wine Garden, 3258 N. Sheffield Ave., starting at 6 p.m.
"Guided by instinct, we came up with this dark, gold, toasty aromatic, subtly spicy, bitter enough, dry-hopped brew," said Doomtree member Dessa. Members of Doomtree, who released a new album Jan. 27, and Surly brewers will be at Sheffield's to meet fans.
Two tickets to Doomtree's sold-out show at Abbey Pub, 3420 W. Grace St., will be raffled off at the Sheffield event at 8 p.m. The winners will get free transportation to the Friday concert, which starts at 11 p.m. in Irving Park.
