AVONDALE — Finding a stylish outfit at an affordable price is no easy feat, but the folks at the Re-Do resale shop are hoping to make the task a little easier with a free event.

On Thursday, dimestore diva and image consultant Regina Ontiveroz will host a presentation on putting together a stylish outfit from resale finds. All items will be 10 percent off during the event, which will take place at the new resale boutique, 3051 N. Milwaukee Ave.

The event will include free wine and snacks, as well as a free Mary Kay product for the first 20 attendees. Participants can also enter to win $100 in Mary Kay products and a one-hour styling consultation with Ontiveroz.

The style seminar will be the first event since Re-Do's grand opening in November. The shop is a branch of the Lakeview Employment Group, which launched in 2011 to help find employment for people facing homelessness, long-term unemployment and other issues.

"Our goal is to provide working opportunities to get them back in the work force and helping them along the way with housing or going back to school," said co-director Cari Henson. "We don't want to rely on grants or the city, so we want to use business solutions to help these people out."

Lakeview Employment Group offers paid internships that include work as parking attendants, maintaining planters for Central Lakeview Merchants Association and working at festival booths. With Re-Do's recent launch, the organization will offer five longer-term internships starting in the spring and is currently accepting applications.

Money generated from sales at Re-Do helps pay interns and provide Ventra passes to participants, Henson said.
