CHICAGO — Northbound Red Line trains will be rerouted from the subway to elevated tracks this weekend as the CTA continues upgrading the subway's wireless service.

Red Line trains between Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton will be rerouted beginning at 10 p.m. Friday until 6 am. Sunday, the CTA said in a news release.

During the scheduled time, northbound trains will stop at the elevated Roosevelt stop, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Sedgwick and Armitage, the CTA said.

Commuters in need of elevator access Downtown will need to use the station at Clark/Lake. Customers Downtown can access Red Line trains by walking a block east of State Street and boarding any elevated station along Wabash or Lake streets.

Commuters are advised to allow extra time for travel. Southbound trains will not be affected. Similar work is scheduled for next weekend.
