University Chamber Orchestra Offers Free Performance Saturday

HYDE PARK — The University Chamber Orchestra will present a free performance of Frank Proto’s “Carmen Fantasy” on Saturday.

Last year’s University of Chicago Concerto Competition winner Emily Brown will be the featured soloist for the piece for double bass and orchestra.

The orchestra will also perform Ottorino Respighi’s "Gli Uccelli" and a sneak peek of the upcoming performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Yeoman of the Guard.”

The free performance starts at 8 p.m. at the Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St.
