LINCOLN PARK — Oz Park resembled the Ice Bowl of '67 Sunday afternoon, as Chicagoans created their own frozen tundra.

The weather for Sunday's pre-Super Bowl matchup was "perfect," according to 10 friends to gathered at Oz Park to play football in near whiteout conditions.

The group, which plays weekly, said the weather actually brought out more players than usual for their Sunday matchup.

"We were planning on coming out to play anyway, but the snow made up want to come out even more," said 27-year-old Lucas Cupkovic.

The friends, who many have known each other since they were kids, said it was the perfect pregame for the Super Bowl and the expected wings, beer and pizza.

"We are trying to get a sweat in," Cupkovic, who lives in Lakeview, said.

Although it wasn't uncommon to hear "I can't feel my toes" during the matchup, the game lasted about two hours.

Some players donned ski masks, and most had snow boots on, slowing the game significantly.

"It feels great," said 29-year-old Mitch Daar, who came from Old Town to play. "I know how to layer up."

The game even had its own version of the famed Puppy Bowl, as about 10 dogs ran wild through the snow nearby.

"We have more people than we would have on a normal week," Cupkovic said. "It's amazing."

Football wasn't the only attraction at Oz Park Sunday. A hill at the park was filled with sledding children.
