SOUTH CHICAGO — Here’s an interesting Valentine’s Day date idea for people interested in the old neighborhood.

The Rev. Wolf Werling’s Lights of Honor International charity teamed up with the Southeast Chicago Historical Society to put together a free historic walking tour in South Chicago that kicks off from Russell Square Park on Feb. 14.

A group of “docents of the hood” will share stories of bygone Chicago and famous South Side residents who made the neighborhood special back when the steel mills provided good jobs and opportunities for local folks.

“This tour is for anybody with a fondness for history who wants to hear more about the good things and heroic things that happened here,” Werling said.

The historic walk starts at noon at the park field house, 3045 E. 83rd St.
