BRIDGEPORT — It's the first sure sign that spring is coming soon: Registration is under way for the 2015 McGuane Bridgeport Baseball season.

In-person registration takes place at McGuane Park, 2901 S. Poplar Ave., on Saturday from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. The league also has online registration available on its website

Leaders at the decades-old, nonprofit league say it's suitable for sluggers ages 3-14 years old. The season begins in April and lasts through August, with nearly all games played at the park's ball diamonds.

Tee Ball will be split into two groups: ages 3 and 4 ($50) will have an eight-week season, while the 5 and 6 ball teams ($75) will have a 10-week season.

The Rookie division is suitable for kids 6-8 years old. Organizers of the league say it's slightly more competitive, and the rosters are kept small to allow for equal playing time. Registration is $100.

The Minor division is for kids 8-10 years old. It's "the first step into competitive baseball, while keeping development as the goal," organizers say. Registration is $125.

The Major division is for kids 11, 12 and 13 years old. Longer base paths, advanced rules and more intense competition are part of the fun. Registration costs $150.

The Pony league is the park's spring ball squad. Organizers are hoping to put two teams together to compete against other local parks. High school students are not eligible. Registration is free.

All costs include uniform and trophies.
