LITTLE ITALY — Two men have been charged in a daytime armed robbery that occurred near a Little Italy park Saturday, police confirmed Monday afternoon.

The crime was the second daytime robbery near the park in just over a week, although no one has been arrested yet in connection with the first attack.

At 1:15 p.m. Saturday, two male teenagers were approached by the two men at Sheridan Park, 910 S. Aberdeen St. While displaying a gun, one of the men ordered the teens to leave their belongings and run away from the scene, according to Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The victims' jackets containing cell phones were taken, according to a police report.

Police were able to track down the offenders a short time after the incident and the stolen items were recovered and returned, Sweeney said.

Quinten Tucker, 20, of the 1300 block of West 14th St., and Marlon E. Jackson, 21, of the 6200 block of S. Winchester St., were both charged with two felony counts of armed robbery in the incident, police said.

According to multiple sources, the victims were a 15-year-old male and 16-year-old male who live in the neighborhood.

On Jan. 16, a UIC student was the victim of an armed robbery that also occurred near the park at on Polk and Aberdeen streets.

The female victim was walking east on Polk when an unknown male approached her, displayed a handgun and demanded her possessions, according to a police report. The victim said an accomplice helping the male came up behind her, police said.

The victim surrendered her mobile phone and cash from her wallet. The suspects then fled westbound on Polk.

The first suspect was described as a black male, 6-feet tall, 160 pounds, with brown eyes, a dark complexion and wearing a black ski mask, black-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He was carrying a snub-nose revolver with a brown handle, according to police.

The second suspect was only described as a male.

The UIC Police/Chicago Police Department Joint Robbery Task Force is conducting a follow-up investigation in the Jan. 16 incident. Anyone with information is asked to call UIC Police at 312-996-2830.
