EDISON PARK — Police are looking for a man who broke into two Far Northwest Side homes during the day and tried to distract his victims by yelling that their houses were on fire, officials said.

At 1:20 p.m. on Jan. 19, the man broke into a home in the 3800 block of North Pacific Avenue in Dunning and at 2:50 p.m. on Jan. 21 the man forced his way into a home in the 6700 block of North Oxford Avenue in Edison Park, police said.

In both incidents, the man forced the front door of the homes open and yelled "fire" to distract the residents before fleeing in a dark-colored SUV, possibly a four-door Ford F-150 with a chrome grill.

Police warned Far Northwest Side homeowners to be on the lookout for a white or Hispanic man between 25 and 30 years old, between 5-foot-8-inches and 6-feet tall and 150 and 160 pounds.

Police urged residents to make sure their doors and windows are locked.

Anyone with information should call detectives at 312-744-8263.
