Cellphone Thefts on Red Line Trains in Uptown Lead to Police Warning

CHICAGO — Chicago Police are warning CTA commuters of cellphone thefts on trains at the Wilson Red Line station in Uptown.

In three separate incidents, a man approached commuters on trains, grabbed their phones and ran off the train at the Wilson stop, the police statement said.

The most recent incident occurred Wednesday at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday. Other thefts occurred at 10:45 p.m. Jan. 9 and 2:15 a.m. Dec. 28.

In the Dec. 28 incident, the offender is described as a black man between 18 and 25 years old, wearing a gray sweatshirt with an American Eagle brand logo over a blue hooded sweatshirt and camouflage pants.
