Police Issue Warning After Spate of Garage Burglaries on Northwest Side

PORTAGE PARK — Six Northwest Side garages have been burglarized in recent weeks, police warned.

The incidents happened in the:

• 4800 block of West Grace Avenue between 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 31
• 5000 block of West Henderson Avenue at 9 p.m. Jan. 10
• 5000 block of West Newport Avenue between 11 p.m. Jan. 13 and 6 a.m. Jan. 14
• 5000 block of West Roscoe Avenue between 12:15 a.m. to 12:42 a.m. Jan. 14
• 5100 block of West Roscoe Avenue at 12:15 a.m. Jan. 14
• 5200 block of West Patterson Avenue between 12:15 a.m. to 12:42 a.m. on Jan. 14

This is the fourth alert issued in recent weeks by Chicago police, who have also warned about daytime home burglaries in Portage Park.

In addition, at least five residential burglaries were reported in O'Hare and Irving Woods in December and January, police said. Suspects enter apartments and residences through windows or doors and take property, including electronics, jewelry, cash and other items.

The incidents occurred in the :

• 5200 block of North Delphia Avenue on Dec. 23 between 7:40 a.m. and 6:15 p.m.;

• 8600 block of West Catherine Avenue on Dec. 26 or 27 between 6 p.m. and 12:42 a.m.;

• 8100 block of West Farragut Avenue on Dec. 27 at 5 p.m.;

• 5500 block of North Cumberland Avenue on Jan. 2, between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.;

• 4000 block of North Pittsburgh Avenue between Jan. 3 and 5 between noon and 11:43 a.m.
