DUNNING — Something every college student needs can't be found near the campus of Wright College in Dunning, says one new businessman.

There are fast food and chain stores nearby, but Rob Austin, spokesman for the newly opened Coffee Bean Cafe, hopes the shop fills a need for a place to hang out, use Wi-Fi and fill up on caffeine and food for students and neighborhood residents.

"Based on the dynamic of the neighborhood, there was a coffee chop that needed to come up," Austin said. "There's not really anything around here locally."

The cafe at 4036 N. Narragansett Ave., which opened in mid-November, is run by by three friends who grew up in Dunning, Austin said.

Coffee Bean Cafe offers a large selection of breakfast foods, sandwiches, pizza, salads coffee drinks and pastries, most for under $10. It is open every day.

"Between breakfast and lunches we have a pretty dynamic menu," Austin said.

The interior of the building was rehabbed and used to be a Toppers Pizza, Austin said.
