PILSEN — The coffee-and-beer buzz has inspired a new brew festival coming to Pilsen in January.

Intelligentsia Coffee and Chicago-based brew blog Good Beer Hunting have teamed up to create Uppers and Downers, a festival of coffee beers, at Thalia Hall on Jan. 25. Tickets to the educational and competitive series are now on sale.

The event will bring together creative brewers and coffee roasters from across country to create and showcase innovative coffee beers, featuring "new-to-the-world" brews from Goose Island and Solemn Oath breweries.

The fun will also include a a home-brew competition, multi-roaster coffee bar, cocktails and more. Other featured breweries will be announced at a later date.

Tickets are $55 and include up to 15 tastings with small bites from Dusek's.
