LOOP — Another health-conscious lunch option is hitting Michigan Avenue.
Protein Bar is opening its 20th store Friday at Millennium Park Plaza, 151 N. Michigan Ave. Doors open at 11 a.m.
Founded in 2009, Chicago-based Protein Bar has sprouted in and near several Downtown office towers in recent years, catering to office workers drawn to its high-protein, low-fat vegan-friendly fare. The chain also operates restaurants in Colorado and Washington, D.C., Protein Bar Founder Matt Matros said.
"We're pumped," Matros said. "[Michigan Avenue is] the most iconic street in Chicago and we’re happy to be a part of it."
Visitors on Friday will receive a two-week unlimited pass to Lakeshore Sport & Fitness' Illinois Center gym and can enter a drawing for prizes including a FitBit, three-day juice cleanse, and Protein Bar merchandise.
The new Protein Bar will sit next to a Garrett's Popcorn in the newly-renovated retail space at Millennium Park Plaza. Matros said Protein Bar aims to open 10 new stores a year going forward.
