Four Debates Scheduled for 43rd Ward Election

LINCOLN PARK — The crowded field of candidates in the 43rd Ward and 2nd Ward will have a chance to speak directly to voters during a number of candidate forums in January.

Neighborhood associations as well as the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce have planned debates this month.

Four candidates remain on the ballot in the 43rd Ward: current alderman Michele Smith, Jennifer "Jen" Kramer, Caroline Vickrey, and Jerry Quandt.

Steven McClellan, who was removed from the ballot Monday, said he plans to continue his campaign as a write-in candidate and intends to participate in the debates.

The Wrightwood Neighbors are hosting the first debate Jan. 12 at the New Life Church, 1110 W. Lill Ave., at 7:30 p.m., following the 7 p.m. CAPS meeting.

The Ranch Triangle, Sheffield Neighbors and Lincoln Central Association are hosting a debate Jan. 13 at St. Vincent DePaul Center, 2145 N. Halsted St., at 7 p.m. Ted Wrobleski of the Sheffield Neighbors will moderate that debate.

The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce is hosting a candidate forum for the 43rd Ward candidates Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the DePaul University Student Center, 2324 N. Fremont St. Crain's Chicago's Greg Hinz will moderate.

The Old Town Triangle Association is hosting a candidate forum Jan. 29 at their headquarters, 1763 N. North Park Ave. at 7:30 p.m.

The Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce is hosting a forum for the 2nd Ward Jan. 21 at the DePaul University Commons, 2324 N. Fremont St. at 6:30 p.m.
