CHICAGO — When it comes to not wanting to cook or go out for dinner, there's nothing more that Chicagoans want to eat than a good old cheese pizza.

We asked GrubHub, a Chicago-based online food-ordering service, to sift through its numbers and find the foods Chicagoans ordered most in 2014.

What's clear from the list is that Chicagoans love cheese pizza and food from Asian restaurants.

Just in time for this week's frigid weather, here's the list of most-ordered food items in Chicago in 2014, according to GrubHub:

  1. cheese pizza
  2. crab rangoon
  3. pad Thai
  4. french fries
  5. egg rolls
  6. pot stickers
  7. wings
  8. mozzarella sticks
  9. orange chicken
  10. fried rice

GrubHub also crunched its data to see which food items were the trendiest in Chicago in 2014. In other words, which foods saw the biggest increase in orders in 2014 compared with 2013.

Atop the list: cornbread.

Tanveer Ali discusses why BBQ is rising in popularity:

"I have noticed a slight increase in orders, but I can't say why," said Alex Borozan, a manager at Lillie's Q in Wicker Park. "There are people who say, 'I've never had a piece of cornbread I didn't like.' "

Here's a list of the top 10 trendiest food items in Chicago ordered on GrubHub in 2014:

  1. cornbread (orders increased by 1,015 percent between 2013 and 2014)
  2. collard greens (564 percent)
  3. chicken shawarma (396 percent)
  4. shrimp tacos (225 percent)
  5. pescado tacos (212 percent)
