LINCOLN SQUARE — If you're looking for a place to nurse your New Year's Eve hangover — either with a nip of hair of the dog or a plate of bacon and eggs — we've got the scoop on who's open for brunch, and who isn't, on Jan. 1.
Fork, 4600 N. Lincoln Ave., will be serving its regular brunch menu 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Dishes include the aptly titled "hangover helper" — an herb biscuit with cheddar cheese, bacon, chicken sausage gravy and eggs over easy.
No self-respecting Irish pub would call in sick after a night of drinking. The Grafton, 4530 N. Lincoln Ave., is open at 11 a.m. If your stomach's crying out for comfort food, settle it with a heaping helping of mac 'n' cheese.
Gideon Welles, 4500 N. Lincoln Ave., opens at 1 p.m. Order up a breakfast burrito and, if you've got the guts (literally and figuratively), a "walk of shame" cocktail — a combo of moonshine, maraschino liqueur, lemon simple syrup and soda.
If it's coffee you crave, Julius Meinl, 4363 N. Lincoln Ave., is open 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Le Cafe, 4655 N. Lincoln Ave., will keep the java refills coming 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Kitsch'n on Roscoe, 2005 W. Roscoe St., is hosting its 17th annual Hangover Brunch, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Pajamas are encouraged. Dig into a Belgian waffle and chicken sandwich and chase it down with a chipotle Bloody Mary.
Cover all your New Year's bases at once with a pancake flight at Orange, 2011 W. Roscoe St., open 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. A flapjack topped with champagne jello keeps the party going while a granola pancake and yogurt fulfills your resolution to take better care of yourself in 2015.
Save yourself a trip to these restaurants, which are closed for the holiday: Over Easy, Bistro Campagne, Bread & Wine, Cafe Selmarie and Baker Miller.
