CHICAGO — A 56-year-old man was killed after being hit by a CTA Red line train on the North Side Monday night, fire officials said.

About 7:45 p.m., a northbound Red Line train hit the commuter at the Loyola station, said Ibis Antongiorgi, a CTA spokeswoman.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene. His death appears to be a suicide, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

Chicago Fire Department Media Affairs Cmdr. Frank Velez confirmed one person was killed and said the Fire Department is investigating the incident.

All northbound trains from Loyola were temporarily out of service, the CTA said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office identified the man as Jimmy Lee, 56, of the 1600 block of West Highland Avenue in Edgewater.

Lee was pronounced dead at 8:02 p.m., according to the morgue. He died of multiple injuries in what the morgue has ruled a suicide.
