MCKINLEY PARK — Southwest Side kids will have their pick of thousands of free toys at the annual 12th Ward toy drive

Hosted by Ald. George Cardenas, the event takes place 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the McKinley Park field house, 2210 W. Pershing Road. The toys are donated by local businesses.

It’s open to kids 10 years old and younger who live in Little Village, Brighton Park, McKinley Park and Back of the Yards. Organizers are asking residents to bring a proof of address.

The holiday event draws upward of 5,000 kids each year and typically includes free hot cocoa and the Mexican drink atole. Kids can also have their picture taken with Santa Claus.

Questions about the event? Call the 12th Ward office at 773-523-8250.
