Police Warn of Armed Robberies in Uptown, Lakeview

CHICAGO — Police are warning residents of Uptown and Lakeview after a pair of armed robberies on Thursday.

In both cases, police said, a suspect produced a handgun before robbing victims.

The first robbery took place about 2:30 p.m. Thursday in an alley the 4500 block of West Dover Street. The second was in the victim's garage in the 800 block of West Fletcher Street about 7 p.m. The victim parked her car before being robbed, police said.

The suspect in the first robbery is described as a black male about 16 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8, weighing 150 to 155 pounds. He has a dark complexion, and was wearing a maroon or burgundy sweatshirt and a black scarf or mask over his lower face.

The suspect in the second robbery is described as a black man about 25 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9, weighing 150 pounds. He has a dark complexion and wore a red hooded sweatshirt with black fabric covering his lower face, police said. He may have been dropped off in the alley by another vehicle as the victim pulled up to her garage, police said.
