NORWOOD PARK — Norwood Park will welcome the holiday season with a blaze of lights and a celebration set for 6:30 p.m. Friday.

The big evergreen tree near the Norwood Park Metra Station, 6008 N. Northwest Hwy., will light up the night sky at an event hosted by the Norwood Park Chamber of Commerce.

Hot chocolate will be available from Norwood Crossing, an assisted living facility.

The ceremony will feature carols sung by the Taft High School choir.

A full-length Christmas concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. inside the train station as part of Friendship Presbyterian Church's concert series that takes place on the third Friday of the month.

Donations will be collected for the Taft choir at the concert, organizers said.
