LINCOLN PARK — Finch's Beer Co. has plans to build a new brewery and tap room along the North Branch of the Chicago River in Lincoln Park.

The Chicago-based brewer announced the design and development of the brewery that is set to open in late 2016 or early 2017 along with riverwalk improvements and a beer-to-go growler and package store.

Finch's, which is located in Albany Park, announced that first phase of construction for the new brewery would be larger than 50,000 square feet.

The first phase includes the tap room, riverwalk and package shop, according to the announcement posted on Finch's website.

The plans include a dock along the river with 125-feet of boat access and a 4,800-square-foot large tap room/event space.

The young beer company opened its original, and current, location at 4565 N. Elston Ave. in June 2011 and has been quickly growing ever since.

The current brewery is about 18,000 square feet.

Once the three-phase project is complete, the new brewery will encompass 80,000 square feet.

The plans also include parking for more than 200 cars.
