PORTAGE PARK — Portage Park will welcome the holiday season with a blaze of lights and a celebration set for 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The big evergreen tree near the playground, 4100 N. Long Ave., will light up the night sky at an event hosted by the Friends of Portage Park.

Sleigh rides, music, hot chocolate will be available, with Santa Claus himself on hand to light the tree.

A warm tent will keep attendees from succumbing to the cold.
