Two Teens Shot, One Fatally, Among Four People Shot Overnight Citywide

CHICAGO — Four people were shot overnight including two teens, one of whom was fatally wounded on the West Side.

Around 9:30 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in the head in South Austin, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

Several hours earlier, another 16-year-old boy was shot during a possible drive-by in Fernwood, Pacheco said.

Around 6:10 p.m., the boy was walking in the 10600 block of South State Street when he was shot in the right leg. He was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in good condition, Pacheco said.

A black car was seen speeding away from the area, Pacheco said.

In other violence overnight, a 21-year-old man was in the 400 block of East 71st Street around 5 p.m. when a man in a black jacket walked up to him and shot him four times, Pacheco said.

The man was taken to Northwestern Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Pacheco said.

In the most recent shooting, a 21-year-old man was shot early Thursday in West Pullman.

Around 1:10 a.m., the man was walking on the sidewalk when two men walked up to him and began firing at him, Pacheco said.

The man was struck in the forearm and grazed in the foot. He was taken to Christ Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, Pacheco said.
