Austin Convenience Store Robberies Prompt Police Warning

CHICAGO — Police are warning Austin residents about several armed robberies at convenience stores around the neighborhood.

During the incidents, two men armed with a gun entered the convenience stores and demanded money from the cash register before also robbing the clerks of their personal cash, police said.

The thieves dressed in all black with hats and ski masks. They were seen driving a small black car in one robbery, police said.

The incidents occurred:

• In the 600 block of North Cicero Avenue at 8:20 p.m. Nov. 20.

• In the 4900 block of West Ferdinand Street at 7:12 p.m. Wednesday.

• In the 5400 block of West Chicago Avenue at 8:21 p.m. Wednesday.
