CHICAGO — Two people were shot within minutes of each other Tuesday afternoon in Galewood.

Around 4:45 p.m., an 18-year-old man was in the 1600 block of North Merrimac Avenue when a man across the street shot him in his leg, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man drove himself to Our Lady of Resurrection Medical Center then was transferred to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, Pacheco said.

Around the same time, a 19-year-old man was standing in the 2200 block of North Nagel Avenue when a white SUV pulled in front of him and a passenger in the back seat shot him in his hip, Pacheco said.

The man was taken to West Suburban Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, Pacheco said.

No one is in custody for the shooting, which appears to be gang related, Pacheco said.
