ROGERS PARK — A man was stabbed in his head Thursday evening in Rogers Park after an altercation that began on a CTA bus, authorities said.
Officers responded at the 6400 block of North Sheridan Road about 5:15 p.m., where they discovered a man who had been stabbed in the side of his head, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago Police Department spokesman.
The man, 56, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition had stabilized, Sweeney said. He suffered a laceration to the side of the head, as well as two cuts to his leg, police said.
Loyola University, in a statement posted on its webite, said the altercation involved "three non-Loyola-affiliated individuals. ... The altercation eventually moved to the west sidewalk of Sheridan, and at some point one of the individuals was seriously injured with an unknown object."
Loyola police immediately responded, the university said. A 25-year-old woman was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery, police said.
Monique Jackson, of the 6300 block of North Wayne Avenue, is due in court Jan. 7, police said.
"My friend and I just walked up to our bus stop when they were cleaning up the blood," said a woman who declined to give her name. "We were told by police that someone was hurt and that they had handled it."
An employee at Triccoci University said the incident took place on the sidewalk outside the cosmetology school’s storefront.
The stabbing was a block from the Loyola Red Line "L" stop.
