BEVERLY — Chicago Police in the Morgan Park District issued a community alert on Thursday after a pair of daytime burglaries in Beverly.

The incidents both occurred around 2 p.m. The first on Nov. 11 and  then again on Nov. 14 in the 10400 and 10500 blocks of south Longwood Drive.

In both incidents, the burglar broke into the homes through a rear or side window. He made off with jewelry and electronics. In one incident, the victim returned home to find the burglar still inside the home.

The victim described the burglar as male and wearing a Carhartt jacket and hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head. He was also wearing a cross-body backpack or satchel.

Police recommend all nearby residents lock their windows and doors, along with gates to the backyard. They also encourage residents to keep a record of serial numbers and take pictures of all electronics and valuables. Such efforts can help police identify any recovered property.
