JEFFERSON PARK — The lush sounds of Handel's Messiah will herald the coming of the Christmas season during a sing-along concert at the Copernicus Center.

Accompanied by four soloists, the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra, which is dedicated to the popularization of Polish music and culture outside of Poland, will perform the Christmas portion of George Frideric Handel’s oratorio The Messiah, which tells the story of Jesus' birth and life.

The audience, which will be asked to sit in sections designated for sopranos, altos, tenors and basses, will sing all choruses, ending with the Hallelujah chorus. Those who can't carry a tune will still be able to sit with their more musically inclined family and friends.

The Jefferson Park Neighborhood Association is organizing the concert to showcase the artistic talents of Jefferson Park residents, officials said.

Rehearsal sessions will take place to allow those who are unfamiliar with the music a chance to learn it. Singers are welcome to purchase a vocal score at the event or bring their own.

The concert will take place at 3 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave.

Tickets for the Sing Along Messiah are $15.
