North Center's Holiday Campaign Promotes Giving Back While Shopping Local

NORTH CENTER — Shopping local has added meaning this holiday season.

A number of North Center businesses will serve as collection centers for food and toiletry items that will then be donated to Common Pantry.

More than a dozen businesses are participating in the Northcenter Chamber of Commerce's "Season of Giving" campaign, now underway, with many of them offering rewards to customers who turn a good deed.

Collection centers with added incentives:

  • Da Sorce, 4353 N. Lincoln Ave.: A 10 percent discount off purchase for every 10 items donated.
  • Freshworks Dental, 3864 N. Lincoln Ave.: A Sonicare electric toothbrush is up for grabs. Receive a raffle ticket for each item donated.
  • Mainstream Boutique, 4357 N. Lincoln Ave.: Donate a non-perishable food item and receive a 15 percent discount off two pieces of merchandise.
  • Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro, 3905 N. Lincoln Ave.: Get a free scoop of Guinness ice cream when you donate.
  • Phyllis Frick Great Clips, 2321 W. Lawrence Ave.: All haircuts are $8.99 when you donate.
  • Rev. Billy's Chop Shop, 4314 N. Lincoln Ave.: Bring in any non-perishable goods and get 10 percent off all products.
  • Rock Candy Salon + Spa, 4141 N. Lincoln Ave.: Donate a food item and get $5 off any service and 20 percent off merchandise.
  • The UPS Store, 4044 N. Lincoln Ave.: 3-D printing, printing of signs/posters/banners, and custom holiday cards are all 25 percent off with donation.
  • Wild Goose Bar & Grill, 4265 N. Lincoln Ave.: 15 percent off check per person who donates.
  • Zulu Dog + Cat Boutique, 3919 N. Lincoln Ave.: Purchase a can of Blue Buffalo dog food and Zulu will donate a can. Receive $5 off future purchases when you donate.

  • Spring Yoga & Fitness, 3940 N. Lincoln Ave.

  • Wintrust, 1946 W. Irving Park Rd.
 
The "Season of Giving" promotion runs through Dec. 25. Check Common Pantry's website for a list of most needed items.
