WEST LOOP — A new gallery, studio and events space aims to be "an environment people want to be" in the Fulton Market neighborhood.

Designer James Geier, known for creating some of the city's most lavish interiors, opened a first floor art gallery at Morgan's on Fulton this summer, and has plans to eventually offer almost 15,000-square-feet of private event and office space in the building, too.

The now-open first floor gallery space at 952. W. Fulton Market will display the work of local artists, according to a press release. When the gallery isn't staging shows, custom art, furniture and lighting designed and fabricated by Geier and his company, 555 International, will be on display.

Once completed, Morgan's on Fulton will feature private event and office space with rooftop gardens, fully-equipped prep areas and custom finishes throughout the building.

Design elements include weathered white plaster walls, raw brick, polished concrete floors and exposed wood beams. A diamond-studded DJ booth to be built in a 2,300-square-foot underground area is in the works, too.

Geier's 555 International, which employs about 130 artists, engineers, designers, architects and craftsmen, operates out of a 300,000-square-foot studio, manufacturing and finishing location in Back of the Yards.

Geier is responsible for the design and design development of interiors at Girl & the Goat and Soho House Chicago, among other city hot spots.
