EAST SIDE — The 10th Ward High School Fair will get an after-school start this year to give more students the chance to talk academics, athletics and scholarships with admissions officers from 15 area high schools.

"For the last few years there weren't a lot of parents and [the fair] was mostly attended by kids," said Melissa Ruvalcaba, Ald. John Pope's spokeswoman. "Now it's from 3-5 p.m. so kids can go after school."

On Wednesday, St. Francis DeSales High School will welcome representatives from Chicago Military Academy, Jones College Prep, Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep, St. Rita, Carver Military Academy, Seton Academy, Marion Catholic, Epic Academy, Payton College Prep, Noble Baker College Prep, St. Ignatius College Prep and Daniel Hale Williams Prep School of Medicine to meet with neighborhood students and their parents.
