One Dead, Two Wounded By Gunfire Since Tuesday Afternoon

CHICAGO — One man was killed, and two others were injured in shootings on the West and South sides since Tuesday afternoon.

Around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday evening, police responded to a call of shots fired and discovered a man shot to death in East Garfield Park, according to police.

• Most recently, a 20-year-old man was shot in West Englewood.

Around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, the man was in a car in the 6400 block of South Paulina Street when he heard shots and felt pain, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

He sustained gunshot wounds in his right leg and lower back, Sedevic said.

He is in stable condition after being transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, she added.

No one is in custody, and detectives are investigating. 

• Earlier in the day around 12:45 p.m., someone shot a 44-year-old man in his right leg in the 6800 block of South Ashland Avenue in West Englewood, Sedevic said.

He was transported to Christ Hospital where he is in good condition, she said.

Police said the victim is a documented gang member.
