EDGEWATER — Additional police officers have been assigned to the area where a man was shot Tuesday, said Ald. Harry Osterman.

The 48th Ward alderman, in an email to constituents, said the gang-related shooting had been "fully" investigated by the police department. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, which left a man hospitalized with wounds to the thigh and back, police said.

Witnesses to the shooting had ripped the initial police response at the scene.

But Osterman said he and his office had been working with property and business owners in the area to increase safety, while both the Rogers Park and Foster police districts assigned more officers to the area.

Osterman said he also met with Police Supt. Garry McCarthy during budget hearings recently and requested "additional gang and narcotic teams for our community to address the gang violence."
