CHICAGO — The CTA will temporarily suspend service to portions of the Green Line to allow for renovation work over the weekend.

Construction to the new Cermak-McCormick Place station will temporarily suspend service between Roosevelt and 35th-Bronzeville-IIT stations, according to the CTA.

Trains will not be running from 2 a.m. Saturday until 4 a.m. Monday morning. Normal service should be restored before Monday morning rush hour, the CTA said.

As part of the renovations, additional work is scheduled at 1:40 a.m. Nov. 8.

The CTA will provide riders with free shuttle service and transfers to affected stations but urged riders to build in extra travel time.

The $50 million project is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The new Cermak-McCormick Place station will have enclosed platforms, elevators and bike racks and will help riders get around more easily, according to the release.
