DuSable Museum to Honor its Late Founder's 99th Birthday

HYDE PARK — The DuSable Museum of African American History will celebrate Founder’s Day with a special tribute to historian Willie Dixon on Saturday.

The museum at 740 E. 56th Place will celebrate the 99th birthday of its late founder Margaret Burroughs with a day of performances, special exhibitions and family activities from noon-5 p.m.

The festivities will include a tribute to Willie Dixon, a professor at the City Colleges of Chicago who focuses on African-American History.

The museum will also announce the winner of its annual Dr. Margaret Burroughs Scholarship, which goes to a single mother pursuing higher education.
