BRIDGEPORT — Neighbors are invited to help clean up litter and other debris festering around the 11th Ward.

Co-hosted by the 11th Ward and the city's streets and sanitation department, the "Clean and Green" event takes place Nov. 8 in and around Bridgeport. Volunteers are asked to call the 11th Ward office or 311 to claim an area to clean.

Registration is required in advance so city officials can dispatch enough bags, rakes and shovels to participants. The deadline to register is Friday.

The fall cleanup event is part of the city's clean and green initiative, which asks city residents to dedicate a few hours to pitch in and spruce up their communities.

To register with the 11th Ward office, call 773-254-6677.
