ROSELAND — Organizers of a business networking meeting said this month's event will focus on dealing with troubled businesses in the community.

The public meeting runs from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Villa, 11139 S. Michigan Ave., and is sponsored by the Greater Roseland Chamber of Commerce.

"There are a lot of businesses located in Roseland whose owners do not live in the community but come here to make money," said Andrea Reed, executive director of the commerce. "Too often these owners take the money and use it to build up the economic base in their communities. And some of these owners run questionable businesses that do harm to the community."

A November workshop is also being planned by the chamber to address troubled buildings in the community.

"We are trying to get someone from the city's Buildings Department to come and speak about what to do when you have nuisance buildings in your community," she said.
