CHICAGO — Two people were wounded in separate shootings on the South Side Monday morning, police said.

About 10:25 a.m., a 22-year-old man was walking down the street in the 3500 block of East 96th Street when a blue SUV pulled up and a man stepped out of the vehicle and opened fire, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

The man was shot in his buttocks and taken to Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn where he was listed in good condition, Sedevic said.

Less than an hour earlier, at 9:45 a.m. in South Shore, a 22-year-old woman was standing outside in the 7600 block of South Coles Avenue when an unknown man walked up and opened fire, Sedevic said.

The woman was shot in her left leg and taken to Trinity Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, Sedevic said.

No one is in custody for either shooting.
