Teen Shot Dead in South Chicago

CHICAGO — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in South Chicago Sunday afternoon.

The boy was walking in the 8200 block of South Houston Avenue at noon when a male approached him and fired shots, striking the boy in the abdomen, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman.

The boy was identified as Marc Williams, of the 8100 block of South Coles Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, and later died, she said. He was pronounced dead at 12:38 p.m.

No one is in custody, and Area South detectives are investigating.
