MAYFAIR — Come for the jazz, stay for the politics — or vice versa depending on your interests — as the folks of Mayfair combine a 39th Ward candidate meet-and-greet with their monthly Music Club Saturday night at the Irish American Heritage Center.

The evening kicks off at 8 p.m. with a performance by Appleton Jazz, followed at 9 p.m. by Holy Smokes and Pin Drop Theatre at 10 p.m.

Between sets, guests can chat up Robert Murphy, Mary Hunter and Joe Laiacona, all of whom are aiming to unseat Ald. Margaret Laurino in the upcoming municipal election.

Murphy was a member of the leadership team of Fair Allocation in Runways Coalition, stepping down once he launched his campaign. Hunter, an entrepreneur, ran unsuccessfully against Laurino in 2011. Laiacona is a former computer science instructor at Columbia College.

The free, all ages show and candidate meet and greet will be held in IAHC's Fifth Province pub, 4626 N. Knox Ave.
